Trade fair and exhibition halls offer huge marketing spaces. Custom printed flooring can be ideal for providing information or directions or, alternatively, for advertising or interior design purposes. It helps you find your way around and contributes to the creation of an ambience. The Cologne-based company Fotoboden has been specialising in custom printed vinyl flooring since 2013. Whatever exhibitors or hall operators want – whether that’s photorealistic images, abstract patterns, company colours, logos or directions – Fotoboden can provide it. Fotoboden is now offering vinyl flooring made of Biorenyl, an eco-friendly type of PVC. Unlike conventional chlorinated PVC products derived from fossil fuels such as crude oil, Biorenyl flooring contains what the company refers to as “bio-circular” oils. What does Fotoboden mean by “bio-circular"? Biorenyl is made from sustainable natural resources, such as vegetable oils. These oils are often used first in the food processing industry, for example. Fotoboden uses them for a second time, turning used vegetable oil into robust PVC. By-products and waste products involved in timber processing also find their way into Fotoboden’s PVC.

“The use of natural and recycled materials makes us less dependent on fossil fuels,” explains Mischa-Ron Ferenschild-Bätzel, Fotoboden’s general manager. “With Biorenyl we are shaping a resource-efficient future for vinyl flooring, and we look forward to meeting our customers’ requirements for sustainable flooring solutions. Fotoboden offers two levels of quality, depending on whether the flooring is temporary or more permanent. Biorenyl flooring for trade fairs, events or seasonal campaigns can be laid particularly quickly and removed again just as easily. It can be reused after the event, thus reducing the volume of waste produced, which is particularly high at trade fairs. For long-term use in offices, public buildings and cultural facilities, Fotoboden has developed durable Biorenyl flooring with a warranty of up to ten years.

The benefits of vinyl as a material apply to all Fotoboden’s products, regardless of whether they are for temporary or permanent use. Its most important quality, as far as users are concerned, is its robustness. The permanent flooring, in particular, has proved itself to be highly resilient and still looks impressive after many years. This flooring is also non-slip and non-fading and meets the requirements of all the important safety and fire protection certificates. Can the reduction in the carbon footprint be expressed in numbers? According to Fotoboden, the carbon footprint of a Biorenyl flooring is 40 percent lower than the conventional alternative. Biorenyl is ISCC+ certified in accordance with the Mass Balance Chain of Custody, and it is thus guaranteed that biomass is obtained independently and reliably in compliance with high sustainability standards (www.fotoboden.de).
